Sugardating is starting to become a familiar term. Sites are appearing and while most target students, sugar daddies are also being sought out.
Sugarbook, a sugar daddy only site, claims to be the “world’s most discreet Sugar Daddy & Sugar Baby dating site”. Sugarbook is only one of many sites for sugar daddies out there.
“James” is a 42-year-old sugar daddy who wants to stay anonymous, and he’s been so for almost five years now.
According to Seeking.com, the average age of a Sugar Daddy is 41-year-old, which means James is right on time. He is a well-educated businessman who works in finance, in London and signed up for Seeking.com “surprised to see how many different sites there was”.
Seeking.com is about “mutually beneficial relationships”. They say they “deliver a new way for relationships to form and grow”. They have over 10 million active users in over 139 countries, according to their website. Sugarbook “provides a platform for modern relationships to form and grow”.
James says he was shallow enough to believe the people who signed up were mostly “the average grey mouse who couldn’t get any” and the daddies were all in their 60s. He adds that only after a few days he had already set up a date with a 20-year-old student and was taking her out for dinner and drinks on Friday, the same week he signed up.
James says says he’s open for things to happen but right now all he’s looking for is “some good, pretty company to have fun with and spend some money”.
According to Seeking.com’s stats, the average sugar daddy should make around $250,000 annually, and the baby should make $2,800 monthly from their daddies. Despite the blurred lines, Seeking claims that being a sugar baby “is not sex work”.
